I don't really have any BIG news to blog about, just some things on my mind.
The "N" on my keyboard has decided to strike. I don't know why, but it annoys me a little.
On to more significant things....
I have been praying really hard for some friends of ours. They found out in December that they were 5 months pregnant. You read that right, but go on back and re-read if your jaw is hanging open like mine was. Their baby boy was born way early about 2 weeks ago. He only made it to 28 weeks. His name is Jeffrey and I ask that you pray for him. I pray that the Lord has His hands wrapped around him, growing him so that his parents can bring him home in May. He weighs just under 2 pounds and has a feeding tube because he is so young that he hasn't learned to suck. My heart breaks for them because they also have an 18 month old at home and are visiting Jeffery every day. I know they are torn between their two boys right now and I can't imagine the stress they are under.
My Wook has been in a very fussy mood today...I don't mean whiny and crying I mean he has fussed out / let have it, his little brother and our backyard birds. He started calling his little bro by his full name this morning when he innocently cried! He also stood on our back patio and shhhhh-ed the birds repeatedly and told them "No! Stop it birds, stop it right now!" and "Birds, I asked you BE-QUIET!" There was a slight, ever-so tiny hint of a threatening tone. I stopped and wondered if I sounded like that. I knew the answer.
I miss my Granddaddy. I sat around the table with my parents and cousins last night. We reminisced about our time with him. It blows my mind to think that I loved him for 30 years, but my Granny... she has known him deeply, and deeply loved him for 68 years. The Lord blessed them with 68 years of marriage!
I remember what a strong, hard headed man he was. He is a survivor of polio. Post Polio left him with some muscle deterioration and a thing for walking sticks! I think of him and all that he has accomplished and overcome in his 92 years of life, each time my babies get their polio vaccine. And I thank God for it. I think of all the things he could have given up on, but instead, found a way to do everything...his way.
I remember Sunrise Services with him each Easter, putting up corn in the summer, riding in his old pick up truck to go feed the pony "Boy", fishing and catching greedy turtles, and always eating ice cream together. These things meant so much more to me when I had a child myself. You really hold on to them. I wouldn't trade Micah's time with him for anything. Though I know he and Lincoln won't remember Granddaddy, I will cherish seeing them together.
I pray that Micah and Lincoln make the kind of memories I have, because they are absolutely priceless. I know I will see him again, because he was a lover of and believer in Jesus Christ. He doesn't miss us or feel sad. He wouldn't want to trade heaven for anything. As much as he loved us, he wouldn't want to come back here.
The preacher preached the funeral service from my Granddaddy's bible. It was falling apart, the bible was literally coming apart. That made me smile to think of how much he used it. There were so many things tucked away in it that were near and dear to his heart. He had his favorite passage written down in the front of it. It reads. "What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?" -Mark 8:36

Snow Storm 2011...Georgia Style
I know all the folks who live with snow all winter think we southerners are so silly, when they call a couple inches of snow "Storm Watch ___ (fill in the year).
We started our morning with Snowman Pancakes!
Well, 8 inches IS quite the storm in Georgia! Here in our area we had a couple inches, covered with thick ice! The Wook and Hubby's dreams melted quickly, unlike our ice covered lawn. You can see the look of disappointment.
Until...they found our neighbors driveway! The look of sheer terror on Wook's face, as he slid out of control and then excitedly yelled "Let's do it again!", was priceless. I didn't get any shots, because I was laughing too hard!
We took a family pic, and don't go calling DFACS, because in our defense, Scut was only out there 12 seconds. And we want to have photographic proof that we didn't leave him out of ALL the fun!
At first we went with a food theme. Kidney beans, carrots, oh rats!...it just wasn't happening with all the mixed in ice. So we got out our trusty....
Mr. Potato Head pieces, and this is what The Wookster came up with! I was impressed. Now he is hanging out on the outdoor table peering at us through the window. The snowman, not my boy.

My hubby was very proud of his trash-can-sheet-of-ice, that he broke, and then used to teach our son to throw "Chinese Stars"???? Not sure that was age appropriate, and sometimes I think that deep down inside, he will forever be a 13 year old boy!
I, being the loving mother that I am, dug through the ice on our outdoor chairs to find some very precious snow. We were COLD and decided to bring it in to make an indoor snowman. I have memories of doing this as a child and saving the mini-snow folks in the freezer. At first we went with a food theme. Halloween 2010
Here are a few pics of Halloween this year.
First we headed to our church's carnival. Wook woke up on the WRONG side of the toddler bed and was insisting that he did not want to go. He kept this up all the way until we pulled in the parking lot where he spied the bouncy house. All was right with the day!
The youth ministry organized the carnival, and I thought this was an awesome idea. We have a great group of middle and high school kids, and they always set a great example for the little ones.
Jeremy almost won a cake in the cake walk. This was not your ordinary cake walk! It was a much more competitive version. Think musical chairs with elbows and our pastor hitting the floor. Wish I had pictures of that!
Next we headed off the a friends neighborhood for trick-or-treating. I was amazed at all the parents who literally drove their kids driveway to driveway. Heaven forbid the kids walked!!
Wook was a cowboy this year. He was decked out in his Daddy's cowboy hat and holster set from a college costume. Memories.
It was a fun night, and Wook was super excited about the two trick-or-treaters he got to give candy to when we got home.
Here is his pic from his first Halloween two years ago....we kinda started a tradition with the porch and pumpkins last year. Wow he is growing up!

Go Braves!
Our son is spoiled.
Every year, we are attend a Braves game with my husband's company. Every year I am blown away by the experience. We are so blessed to attend this event, and it doesn't cost us a dime.
We hang out in one of the suites. This includes watching the game in the air conditioning, eating "not so normal" ball game food, using an exceptionally clean private restroom, and having a safe place for my son to run around. This magical Ice Cream Cart comes around too, between the 4th and 5th inning. They make you a gigantic sundae that puts Marble Slab to shame!
Because we are on a tight budget, and my son is not old enough to really appreciate or sit through a game, we don't usually go to other games during the seasons. We did go to 2 last year because Wook was still a lap sitter, and we had my parents with us to help entertain him.
My husband and I joke that when we take him to a "real" game (aka the nose-bleed seats) he will probably scoff at us and ask "Mommy, where is the Ice Cream Cart, the shrimp cocktail and fresh fruit, why is it so hot out here????"
This is not the kind of ball game experience I remember as a kid.
The Braves games I remember went something like this...
Your feet sticking to the concrete.
Using binoculars to find my favorite players, lemme give a shout out to Darryl Strawberry.
Bringing my glove and praying for a foul.
Sweating...but it not bothering me one bit.
Bringing our own hot dogs, wrapped in foil so they were nice and gooey!
Passing the chips all the way down the row.
Being carried on my Daddy's shoulders back to the car.
Waving at the mascot, a Native American in a full headdress...not some baseball with arms and legs.
Not caring if they lost (cause they usually did back then)
And LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!!
When my son is a little older, these are the kind of games he is going to remember, too!
His favorite part was running the "bases" on the roof of the stadium. He's big stuff!

We were convinced there would be massive puking on the way home.

Farm Heritage Day
I would love to go back to a simpler way of life. (As long as I could take my Tivo, flat iron, and coffee maker with me.) Think it would fit on my wagon????

Each September we travel about 45 miles to Zebulon. Their county's horse club hosts "Farm Heritage Day". We love it for its non-commercialization, and tomato sandwiches.
Where else can a boy.....
ride a tractor

milk a goat (not my boy this year!...we are still randomly asking for the mi-mi's, and I didn't care for the breast pump memories this brought back) But check out the random victims/children.

and eat a most delicious ear of corn...that you chewed very little of, as evidenced the next day.

and meet some new baby animal friends

and pose for the most heart warming picture your Mommy could ask for...

ALL IN ONE AFTERNOON????
It was fun-tastic. Except for the grouchy lady who scared my boy half to death griping and complaining about how my hubby was holding him on the itsy bitsy pony. Can you hold him wrong on an itsy bitsy pony, and if so is it necessary to give gruf instructions while the pony is still moving? We did realize that we will not be using Pegasus Riding School in the future.
But other than that we had a blast! Yee-Haw!

Falcons Season Opener...My Lucky Hubby
So my hubby won his THIRD set of sports tickets THIS MONTH. The guy is lucky.
When we dated in college, I can't tell you the number of times he ended up on the radio winning tickets. I will never forget the time my shy hubby did his "Chunk loves chocolate" (Goonies impression) without even being prodded. He's a keeper.
Well its been Braves tickets, Falcons with the guys, and now Falcons with the Fam.
These were 9 rows behind the bench and very close to the 50 yard line. It was the season opener and we really enjoyed watching Wook, watch the ball.

There was little flailing and just brief moments of stiffening and accidentally kicking nearby spectators. No one gave us ugly looks, at least.
We even made it half way through the third quarter...and as Kristin at We are THAT Family always says "Leave when everyone is still happy". We did just that.
Here are some of our self family portraits. Wook would smile until just before we took the pictures, and then he would lean over in my lap or make an "I am not having fun" face. He was totally doing it on purpose.

Until we snapped this last one...I will take this grin any day!

Great Granddady...Wanna Race?
The Wook and I get to visit my grandparents often. They live about an hour away and we tag along with my mom to take them to doctor's appointments when we can. I can see how much joy playing with him brings them (who could resist him?) so I try to get by there as much as possible.
Last week when we visited, I realized yet again what a sponge my little one is.
Great Granddaddy is in his 90s and just in the past few years has started using a motorized wheelchair. He likes to take the Wookster for special rides. Wook sits on his lap and my Granddaddy drives him around, letting Wook push the buttons. Wook thinks he is making the chair go.

When it was time to leave, I put The Wookie in his stroller so that I could carry some things out to the car. We watched him as he played with this little red button on the front left hand side of the stroller. He kept pushing it and leaning forward like he was trying to make his "chair" move too! It was the most adorable thing I have ever seen.
Great Granddaddy watch out...it looks like Wook wants to race!
